{March 19, 2010}   Feedback!

I got some feedback! I got some feedback!

Short blog, I got feedback on a piece I posted on WEbook.com and it boosted my ego a bit. It’s happy to know that I can take writing criticism and feedback positively as they are intended to be.

On that note, it is way past my bedtime.

Written after I Stumbled upon this webpage:

http://www.funmunch.com/funpages/inspirational/positive_thinking/

An excerpt: “Be thankful for what you have… Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.”

Powerful words that I am sure we have all heard in some form something during our lives. That webpage made me reminisce and think a little about thinks I may take for granted and be ungrateful for. “Be glad you have this food on the table, a roof on your head, clothes on your back, and family to love!” My mother always said when one of my siblings or I registered a complaint with her. When nothing was good enough, she would remind us what good enough was. Sure, I wanted steak for dinner rather than spam, but the fact that we even had the spam to eat should have been something I was thankful for. I was the type who hated saying ‘Thanks’ at the beginning of any meal, especially Thanksgiving. When I was younger, I did not feel the need to say Thanks for anything.  I was the type who believed I saw the grass on the other side and it was indeed greener.

I am older now and live in the south, and the south knows its manners. I generally try to be thankful for what I have, say thanks were needed. I recognize that even if I am at my lowest and feel that good enough is truly not good enough, it could always be worse and I have things that I should be happy for. I have an awesome boyfriend, family, and the cutest puppy. With all of these things in mind, I stumble across a page that leaves me feeling a little lighter inside. It brings a smile to a face that needed one and a strong hand on the shoulder. If we can all take a moment in our lives to think about what we should be thankful for, if we can just thank one more person a day, we may make the world that much better for someone else.

{March 18, 2010}   Twilight – New Moon Review

(possible spoilers if you haven’t read the books, if you read the books than what happens in the movie is no surprise)

I’ll start off by saying, I read all four of the Twilight series books. My overall feelings/opinions/two cents were as follows…so you know where I stand. The second book, New Moon, was the best book. I like werewolves better than Vampires. This series would be slightly more interesting if I wasn’t so put off by Sparklepires(vampires that sparkle like they are bedazzled). Bella Swan pisses me off. I mean I relate to her in the fact that we are both life threateningly clumsy… but I would have stuck with Team Jacob.

I guess some girls just like to take back guys who seriously hurt them!

Anyway, onto the movie adaption. I thought it did a good job of bringing in the important aspects of the book and adding its own elements to make it a movie. I still hate the actress who plays Bella,  Kristen Stewart, her face lacks emotion, she always looks dazed, tired, and un-pretty I think she is a terrible actress.I refuse to jump on the Robert Pattinson bandwagon, so I’ll leave it at this, fans of this actor will enjoy what they see in the movie. He has a nice body.

For those of us who prefer the cute good boy rather than the rugged sexy bad boy, Taylor Launter brings a lot to the table. He does a great job at bringing life to Jacob in this movie. I was surprised to see Dakota Fanning as Jane, very interesting. I see good things for her future, she is turning out to be a versatile young actress.

That’s about all I care to comment about on the movie. I still rate Harry Potter higher than this series.

On another note, I cannot wait for the Clash of the Titans remake to come out!

I commanded myself to dismount my lazy horse and ride my motivation mustang.  I attempted to find a random writing prompt on the internet but stumbled across WEbook.com, an interactive book writing site. You make a project, write, get feedback, allow others to write on your project and make submissions to other peoples project. Essentially it could be every chapter of the book is written by another creative mind.

So, I signed up. Ok, I lied. I apparently had an account opened almost a year ago and never did anything with it. I made a little project called Alistaire’s Adventure. Check it out, sign up and contribute if your heart desires.

Or don’t – either way,I wrote something and THAT is progress <3.

Enough slacking, back to work.

What makes any video game or flash game addicting? Is it the mindless clicking, er rather harvesting, of virtual crops that satisfies my finger’s urge to keep moving? Is it bragging rights so I can show my friends I have the best virtual farm but i have no skill with real farm work? Or is it just because I am that bored?

We may never know, one thing I do know is that it is cutting into my brainstorming time. I have a novel to write.

First of all let me get it out-of-the-way, I love Johnny Depp, LOVE him. Yes, it is exactly what you think. A girly impulse to like someone as gorgeous as he is…but there is more. I actually do like him as an actor, I think he does well in movies and he fit the role well.

Enough about Johnny Depp, back to the movie.

The 3D wasn’t worth the money I paid for. This WAS my 2nd 3D movie, the first was Avatar. I guess seeing that movie in 3D first kind of set the bar for me, I won’t spend money on another 3D movie ever again. It just wasn’t worth 22$ for me and my boyfriend.

The story? Well if you are familiar with Alice in Wonderland you know the basics, a girl falls into a hole in the ground and meets extraordinary characters and saves the day. The basics of the story is there and I loved how the movie made the story its own and brought it to life with the actors playing the characters. It had an array of super actors, one I have already mentioned, but a couple other to name where Crispin Glover, Helena Bonham Carter, and the chick from the Devil Wears Prada whose name I cannot remember. She had large eyebrows in this movie.

TLDR;  See it in a regular theatre, don’t waste money on 3D, Johnny Depp is hot. End

{March 11, 2010}   First Post!

Brief introduction time!

My name is Vanessa. I prefer Nessa or Ness, but never Nessie :) . I am 24 years old and lived the first 20ish years of my life all over Long Island, New York. I currently live in what I like to call the middle of nowhere. The locals call it Lake City.  My hobbies have a vast range and it’s easier to just to vaguely list the categories – anime/manga, music (no I do not like Country), television, video games, movies, friends, reading, and of course, writing. My favorite genre to read and write is Fantasy.

I have a boyfriend and have had the same one for the past 3 years, I am not promiscuous and I believe in love. I prefer to keep a small group of friends.

All of this stuff is boring, that’s about the me that everyone in the real world can see. The best part about me is I am just the right amount of crazy. My mind has the ability to create the most outrageous and outlandish ideas, thoughts, rants, and feelings, and sometimes it can even be humourous. I am not sure where this blog will take me, but I know it will be a crazy ride.

Enjoy!  More updates soon!
